Sundance has announced its 2025 line-up, and 11 films made by WMM filmmakers and Program alum, including four from the WMM Production Assistance Program, will premiere at this year’s festival!
Two of the Production Assistance Program films will screen in the U.S. Documentary Competition:
- LIFE AFTER (dir. Reid Davenport, prod. Colleen Cassingham) – Made with the support of the WMM Production Assistance Program, this film investigates the story of Elizabeth Bouvia, a disabled Californian woman whose 1983 fight for the “right to die” sparked a national debate about autonomy and dignity. World Premiere.
- SEEDS (dir. Brittany Shyne, prod. Danielle Varga) – Made with the support of the WMM Production Assistance Program, this exploration of Black generational farmers in the American South reveals the fragility of legacy and the importance of owning land. World Premiere.
And the other two Production Assistance films are screening in the World Cinema Documentary Competition:
- COEXISTENCE, MY ASS! (dir. Amber Fares, prod. Rachel Leah Jones, Valérie Montmartin) will screen in the World Cinema Documentary Competition. This personal and political one-woman show challenges audiences with hard truths about equality in Israel/Palestine. World Premiere.
- HOW TO BUILD A LIBRARY (dirs./prod. Maia Lekow, Christopher King) – Made with the support of the WMM Production Assistance Program, this film follows two Nairobi women as they transform a former whites-only library into a cultural hub. World Premiere.
And we also congratulate Heidi Ewing, Geeta Gandbhir, Kim A. Snyder, Kellen Quinn, Helle Faber, Zackary Drucker, and Julie Goldman and Christopher Clements, producers of films we have sponsored, who have new films screening in the festival.
The Sundance Film Festival runs from January 23 to February 2, 2025. To view the full program, click here.
Congratulations to all the filmmakers! We are excited to see these transformative films on the big screen in Utah.
