7 WMM Filmmakers Receive IDA Grants and Awards

We are excited to announce that 7 WMM films and filmmakers have received recent IDA grants and other awards. A huge shoutout to WMM release STORMING CAESARS PALACE, also made with the support of the Production Assistance program, which won IDA’s ABC News VideoSource Award at last night’s IDA Documentary Awards. This accolade acknowledges documentaries that incorporate news footage seamlessly into their narrative, making it an integral part of the storytelling process.

Last month, Pallavi Somusetty, director of WMM-sponsored film COACH EMILY, was recognized as one of the three Logan Elevate Grantees 2023 by the International Documentary Association! With the support of the Jonathan Logan Family Association, this $30,000 grant supports women and nonbinary filmmakers of color who direct feature-length documentaries.

And 5 of the 11 projects recently selected for IDA Enterprise Documentary Fund Production Grants — chosen out of 371 total applicants from around the world — are being made with the support of the WMM Production Assistance Program: #NUNSTOO (dir. Lorena Luciano); HAWA (dir. Najiba Noori); LIFE AFTER (WORKING TITLE) (dir. Reid Davenport); THE PHANTOM PAIN OF ROJAVA (dir. Maryam Ebrahimil); and CONFIDENTIAL PROJECT (dir. Petra Costa, co-dir. Alessandra Orofino). Congratulations all!
Congratulations to Pallavi Somusetty for this achievement!
