We are so grateful for the continued, generous support from the National Endowment for the Arts! Women Make Movies has been awarded a $60,000 Grants for Arts Projects to support our distribution program. We are among 1,498 awards totaling nearly $33.2 million that were selected to receive this first round of fiscal year 2022 funding in the Grants for Arts Projects funding category.
“The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support Women Make Movies,” said NEA Acting Chair Ann Eilers. “Women Make Movies is among the arts organizations that are using the arts as a source of strength, a path to well-being, and providing access and opportunity for people to connect and find joy through the arts.”
For nearly 50 years, Women Make Movies has helped elevate diverse women directors and producers and improved equity in the film industry. The largest distributor of films by and about women in the world, WMM is deeply invested in identifying, using, and creating avenues for distribution and effective strategies for release and promotion. Our collection of more than 700 films is used by thousands of cultural, educational, and community organizations each year.
“With this support from the National Endowment for the Arts, Women Make Movies continues its mission to distribute and amplify stories made by and about women from diverse backgrounds and perspectives — stories which are even more critically needed now than ever before.” said WMM Executive Director Debra Zimmerman.
