The International Documentary Association (IDA) announced its latest cohort of ten films receiving the IDA Enterprise Documentary Fund production grants and we are thrilled to see that NINE are directed and/or produced by a woman!
The WMM-sponsored films receiving IDA Enterprise Documentary Fund production grants are:
- FIRE THROUGH DRY GRASS (co-dir. Alexis Neophytides & Andres “Jay” Molina, prod. Jennilie Brewster)
- UNTITLED DWARFISM PROJECT (dir. Julie Forrest Wyman). WMM distributes her films BUOYANT and A BOY NAMED SUE.
- SEEDS (dir. Brittany Shyne, prod. Danielle Varga)
Program alum Laura Poitras is also among this year’s cohort for her new film, UNTITLED SURA MALLOUH PROJECT.
The grant selection committee shared, “Even amid a pandemic that has upended our lives documentary filmmakers remain committed to films that shed light on the vital stories of our time. These IDA Enterprise grantees grabbed us with their riveting stories, journalistic rigor, attention to ethics, and creative approaches to documentary filmmaking.”
Congratulations to our filmmakers, and all the IDA Enterprise Fund grantees! The full press release can be found here.
