The 24th edition of the Woodstock Film Festival kicks off Wednesday, September 27 and WMM filmmaker Katja Esson (SKYDANCER, POETRY OF RESILIENCE, LATCHING ON, and FERRY TALES) is showcasing her new film RAZING LIBERTY SQUARE. Made with the support of the WMM production assistance program, RAZING LIBERTY SQUARE is the urgent and clear-eyed portrait of a Miami community poised at the epicenter of America’s ongoing climate and housing crises. RAZING LIBERTY SQUARE screens on Thursday, September 28, and Saturday, September 30.
Also screening are new projects from WMM filmmakers:
- DANCING ON THE SILK RAZOR – produced by former WMM staff member, Judith Mizrach (co-producer of THE MARTHA MITCHELL EFFECT, which was sponsored by our PA program)
- BLACK GIRLS PLAY – co-directed by Michèle Stephenson (STATELESS) and Joe Brewster. (Stephenson and Brewster also co-directed GOING TO MARS: THE NIKKI GIOVANNI PROJECT, sponsored by WMM’s PA program)
- A DESERT IS AN OCEAN – directed by Katherine Clary
The Woodstock Film Festival runs until October 1 in New York’s Hudson Valley.
