Iraj Emami
Iraj Emami is an actor, director and producer experienced in film, theatre and television. After graduating from Tehran University, he studied at Edinburgh University and holds a PhD in theatre. His work both in England and Iran is extensive. He began his career as a director, actor, and playwright for the Iranian Ministry of Arts and culture, working at Iran’s National theatre in Tehran where he acted in many Iranian and European plays.
He has directed three feature films and 50 episodes of educational films for Iranian Television in association with corporation of the Little Angle Theatre Company in London. Since 1988 in his position as the director of Hamava Arts, he has promoted Iranian art at the SBC developing more artistic links between Britain and Iran. Iraj Emami has collaborated with BBC, CH4 and ITV on a number of productions. In 1999 he produced prize-winning film IRANIAN JOURNEY for the ZDF/ ARTE and Legend production Company directed by Mayson Parchachi. He composed and performed the music for recent BBC production Fever Road directed by Kevin Hall. His feature film The Walnut Harvest is banned in Iran. His latest film is Towards Sunset. (12/07)
